3 emerging trends in men's fashion autumn/winter 2022/23

Oversize, knitwear, tracksuits and college style. Let's go through it!

Autumn is the season of change.

The presentation of the Fall/Winter collections, more so than the summer collections, has always been the perfect time of the year for stylists and designers to launch new trends, daring the catwalk with imaginative creations that promise to revolutionise fashion in the years to come.

Once again for this season, street-style enthusiasts will not be disappointed: the catwalks and red carpets of the latest events, from Fashion Week to the Grammy Awards and film festivals, have been a veritable breath of fresh air, an explosion of new trends all to be explored and which are already establishing themselves as must-haves for the large scale consumers.

Strike has selected for you 3 of the most interesting emerging trends in men's streetwear (and beyond) that will dominate the scene in the coming years.

Oversize.

From outerwear (coats and puffer jackets) to pants (cargo and baggy) to hoodie (loose fit), oversize it’s one of the FW22 men’s fashion trend.

A style that had already been smelt in past years, but only now is really coming out into the open for the first time, involving brands and designers with very different background.

This is the case of MM6, which has shown for this autumn/winter, a collection characterised by a return to its origins: basic and essential lines for everyday life, genderless garments designed to last, such as the wool jacket with leather sleeves seen here.

Studio Nicholson, a brand inspired by Japanese architecture and culture and a new entry at Strike Store, also focuses its collection almost entirely on the oversize trend, with the aim of creating a modular wardrobe inspired by the capsule collection concept.

In its proposal we find clothing with a clean and minimalist cut, modern and functional but which manage to be, at the same time, smart and structured, thanks to research, design and selection of high quality fabrics.

Lastly, Rick Owens DRKSHDW is confirmed as the king of street-style with an oversize proposal in which fabrics and their mix make the difference: from the printed bomber jacket to the corduroy suits to end with the patchwork jacket in denim and nylon. The watchword: contamination.

Knitwear and knitwear.

Jacquard motifs, but not only. Wool jumpers and  vest will be the big stars of this winter, preferably heavy- knitted, in bright colours and with unique patterns and fit. A big recall to the 80s jumper that grannies used to give us for Christmas.

Iconic sweaters by CFCL, a brand new Japanese label at Strike, stand out.  Designed to meet the dual need for comfort, even in the care of the fabrics, and refinement, CFCL knitwear is able to satisfy different tastes and style requirements, from maximum sobriety to whimsical elegance, in each case keeping the promise contained in the brand's acronym: Clothing For Contemporary Life.

More minimalist is the proposal by Studio Nicholson, which combines the oversize trend with knitwear, creating oversize pullovers and vest  with deep V-necks in basic colours, for an essential proposal.

Also Emporio Armani, another new brand selected by Strike, take up at the knitwear trend with a bon-ton retro flavoured proposals, and for this reason timeless, such as this cream cable-knit pull.

Absolutely retro is, also, Carne Bollente proposal, with its classic crew-neck sweater, “vintage inspired” both in the colours and fit choice. More versatile instead is the approach of Laneus, which on one hand embrace the knitwear trend in its simplest sense, with pullovers, polo –sweaters and even a wool bomber jacket, all slightly oversized, and on the other introduces a surprise element with this mohair wool hoodie with a degradé effect.

Tracksuit and “college style”.

Two classics of recent years fashion are making their come back: tracksuit and “college style” are the big trends of the moment. The difference from the past is the material and the attention to detail, as well as the colour palette.

Green is the colour of the year, also a choice with strong vintage references. Varsity jackets, as well as tracksuit, can be found in almost all Fall/Winter 2022/23 collections.

Axel Arigato green trousers and sweatshirts have that typically, well-known eighties flavour. More whimsical is Barrow's proposal, which keeps faith with its kidcore style, adorning the traditional varsity bomber jacket with provocative embroidered patches.

The college jacket concept evolves in Represent's idea in an oversized bomber jacket and sherpa shirt in checked wool, while the traditional set of sweatpant and hoodie becomes glamorous with a jacquard weave and monogram pattern.

Also eclectic is the proposal by 1017 Alyx 9SM, which enriches the minimal cut of its oversize hoodie with ostrich feathers and declines the college style in this black and white bomber jacket, a sign that even luxury is inexorably approaching this trend.
